CCAC Dynasty
Claiming their 4th straight CCAC regular season and tournament Championship, the Judson men's soccer team did something that no other CCAC team has ever done. Judson claimed the regular season title with a 6-1-2 record and a 2-2 overtime tie with Illinois Tech. Judson then was awarded the #1 seed in the CCAC Tournament and defeated Olivet Nazarene, 2-1, in the semi-finals and then shut out St. Xavier, 1-0, for the championship.
4th Straight NAIA Region VII Championship
Adding to their legacy of the past four years, Judson also won their fourth straight NAIA Region VII Championship. They received a #2 seeding and a first-round bye by winning the CCAC Tournament. Judson defeated St. Xavier for a third time in a season with a 3-1 win in the semi-final match and then scored three goals in the second half vs. #1 St. Ambrose for a 4-1 win. The win gave Judson and automatic berth to the NAIA National Tournament in Kansas City.
NAIA National tournament (4th straight appearance)
Advancing to their fourth straight NAIA National Tournament, Judson was paired with Mid-Continent (KY) in the first round. Judson had a 1-0 lead at the half but two second half goals by Mid-Continent ended Judson's season at 15-5-3.
Dominating Class
The seniors that led the 2007 team finished their four-year career with a combined record of 74-14-6. There were five four-year seniors in Kyle Selph, Steven Moldenhauer, Tim Balatsoukas, and Andrew Weissman and two-year player Mark Howlett. The five seniors were also a part of a perfect 2004 season when Judson went 21-0 and finished at 23-1-1.
NAIA All-Americans
Judson had another stellar year in the post-season awards as three players were named NAIA All-Americans. Senior's Mark Howlett and Steven Moldenhauer along with sophomore Gustavo Oliveira were named to the NAIA All-American Honorable Mention team. It was the second time for both Moldenhauer and Howlett to receive the awards and the fourth straight year that Judson had a player named all-American.
NAIA All-Region VII
For the second year in a row, Mark Howlett was named to the NAIA Region VII 1st-Team. Also being named to the team were Steven Moldenhauer and Gustavo Oliveira.
NCCAA National Player of the Year
Senior Steven Moldenhauer was given a prestigious award in the NCCAA National Player of the Year. The award goes to a men's soccer player that shows great play on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. Moldenhauer is the second Judson men's soccer player to receive this award.
NCCAA All-Americans
Judson had two players given NCCAA All-American 1st-Team awards in Steven Moldenhauer and Mark Howlett. This was the second time that Moldenhauer received the award as he was named to the all-American team in 2005.
NCCAA All-Region
Dominating the NCCAA North Central Regional Team, Judson had four players all-region. Steve Burke was also named the "Coach of the Year," too.
Steven Moldenhauer, Gustavo Oliveira, Mark Howlett, and Petar Bajic were named to the team.
NCCAA National Ranking
Finishing the year with a 15-5-3 record, Judson was given a #5 final national ranking in the NCCAA National Poll. Judson was in the top 10 all season long and at one point was ranked as high as #2 in the nation.
NAIA National Ranking
Even though Judson won 15 games and was in the NAIA National Tournament, they did not receive a final top 25 national ranking. They finished as the 27th team receiving votes. Judson was in the top 25 for most of the season and started out with a pre-season ranking of #8.
NAIA Regional Ranking
Judson won the NAIA Region VII Tournament but was the #2 seed in the final ranking. Judson had been ranked #1 for most of the season and fell to #2 when Grand View (Iowa) had a better regional record by one game.
CCAC Awards
Judson once again dominated the CCAC post-season awards as they had six players named all-CCAC. Four of the six players were on the All-CCAC 1st-Team in Steven Moldenhauer, Mark Howlett, Gustavo Oliveira, and Neil Thompson. Named to the All-CCAC 2nd-Team were Vitor Bravo and Petar Bajic.
CCAC Player of the Year
Gaining the CCAC Player of the Year was senior Steven Moldenhauer. The defensemen helped Judson with six shutouts on the year and to their fourth straight regular season and tournament championship.
CCAC Players of the Week
Five different players were given the CCAC Player of the Week award for their play in seven different weeks of the season. Claiming the award twice were Leonardo Silva, Neil Thompson, Mark Howlett, and Gustavo Oliveira. Kyle Selph gained the award in the final week of the season.
Howlett Leads Judson/CCAC
Senior Mark Howlett netted a team-high 17 goals to lead Judson and also recorded 41 points with seven assists. His 17 goals and 41 points also led the CCAC. He finished 38th in the nation for goals and 42nd in points per game.
In the CCAC
Judson was a presence in all the statistical categories for the CCAC. Five players were in the top 20 for points as three were in the top 10 as Howlett led the way with 41 (1.82 pg). Gustavo Oliveira was third at 33 points and Leonardo Silva finished fifth at 26. Finishing 12th was Milos Bajic with 22 points and 15th was Aduato Oliveira at 15 points.
Leading the CCAC in goals was Howlett with 0.77 per game (17). He led four Judson players in the top 20 as Silva was eighth with 0.48 (10), Gustavo Oliveira at 10th with 0.42 (10), and Bajic at 20th with 0.23 (5).
Judson swept the top three places in assists as Bajic was first at 0.55 per game (12) followed by Gustavo Oliveira in second with 0.52 (12) and Aduato Oliveira in third at 0.37 (7). Silva was sixth at 0.29 (6) and Howlett was eighth at 0.27 (6).
Neil Thompson finished second in the CCAC in saves with an average of 4.67 per game. He had 84 saves in 18 games played. He also led the CCAC in goals against with a 0.99 GAA.
